To show off the lettering to its best, it needs to have light passing across the surface. Put it indoors by a window, or outdoors facing south. If you put the stone outdoors on a damp surface (like the ground), it will gather some green surface gunge. Raised up on a wall or a piece of garden furniture it will stay free from green discolouration and remain crisp and gorgeous.
